A34 northbound near Tothill re-opens after single vehicle accident

Both lanes open after car spins off the road and back onto the carriageway

THE A34 near Tothill was temporarily closed northbound yesterday (Sunday) after a single vehicle accident involving a car, which left the road and spun into a verge.

Two fire engines from Newbury fire station, plus a further two from Basingstoke, were called at 6.30pm to the A34 northbound, between Whitchurch and Tothill, after a Fiat 500 spun off the road and back onto the carriageway.

Firefighters assisted paramedics at the scene to remove a woman from the car, the sole occupant and who was taken to hospital.

Both lanes of the A34 were closed during the incident.

One lane remained closed afterwards to allow for recovery of the car.

Police were also at the scene.

Firefighters left after 45 minutes.
