A34 roadworks due to begin

Activities including surface repairs, drainage maintenance, renewal of road markings and road studs, litter picking and vegetation clearance will take place along a 14-mile section of the road between Bullington Cross and Wash Water.
The work will all be carried out overnight, and will involve some overnight closures of each carriageway.
Highways Agency project manager, Guy Watts, said: “This work will improve journeys along this section of the A34.
“We are taking the opportunity to carry out various small schemes, all at the same time, to avoid the need for repeated separate closures.
“We’ve carefully planned the work to cause as little disruption as possible and that is why it is being carried out overnight, when traffic flows are lowest.
“Clearly signed diversions will be in place during the closures but we do advise drivers affected by these to leave plenty of extra time for their journeys, while this essential work takes place.”
Work will begin on the northbound carriageway overnight on Monday, April 29.
Weather permitting, the carriageway is scheduled to be closed for four nights between 10pm and 6am.
Work on the southbound carriageway will be carried out between the same hours for four nights from Tuesday, May 7.
Traffic will be diverted via the A303, the A3093 and the A343.
