Here’s where the A34 will be closed this weekend

Part of the A34 at Newbury will be shut this weekend.

The closure is part of £1.7m worth of works taking place.

Both lanes will be shut on the A34 northbound for resurfacing work between the A34/M4 Chieveley Interchange and the A4185 Chilton Junction.

It is the first of two full weekend closures.

The road will shut at 9pm on Friday (June 27) and is expected to reopen by 6am on Monday (June 30).

The closure will again be in place the following weekend, from 9pm on Friday, July 4 until 6am on Monday, July 7.

National Highways has said two diversion routes will be in place.

The first will be via the M4 and then the M40 and will be suitable for cars and HGV drivers.

The second will be via the A338 and then the A417 but is unsuitable for large vehicles.

National Highways has apologised for any inconvenience the closures will cause.
