The A34 southbound slip road at Beedon will be closed from this evening, after heavy traffic levels made it impossible for the closures to be put in place during the day as previously planned.

The road will be shut from 10pm tonight (Wednesday) until 4pm tomorrow (Thursday).

West Berkshire Council's highways team confirmed that the unplanned change was due to a "large increase in traffic levels on the A34" meaning that the contractor, Volker Highways, was unable to put the closure on in the day time.

A diversion is signed down to the M4 junction 13.

The work, to carry out highway improvements, had been due to be carried out between 9.30am and 3.30pm, from November 15 to November 29.

However, the additional night closure this evening has now been added to the works.
