A4 through Speen and Kintbury in West Berkshire to close for overnight works
A large section of the A4 will be closed overnight for more than two weeks.
The closure, which came into force last night (Tuesday) and will run until May 26, is between the junction with Church Road, at Stockcross, right down to the junction with Station Road at Kintbury.
The road will be shut from 7pm each evening, until 5am the following morning.
The roadworks are to enable Volker Highways to carry out resurfacing work on behalf of West Berkshire Council as part of the highways improvement programme.
A diversion, which will be signed on-site, will take drivers through either Stockcross, Wickham, Shefford Woodlands and Hungerford Newtown, before rejoining the A4 at Hungerford – a distance of more than 21km - or through Hamstead Marshall to Kintbury.
The road will not be closed on the night of Monday, May 15, when Hamstead Marshall Level Crossing will be closed.
The road the crossing is on - Park Lane, in Marsh Benham - will be shut from 11pm on May 15 until 5am on May 16 to enable Network Rail to carry out its annual review of the crossing.
Residential access will be maintained during this closure.
