A4 London Road closure in place this week
The London Road from the Robin Hood roundabout to Park Way will be closed for resurfacing between 9.30am and 4pm from Monday until Friday.
However, no work will be carried out on Thursday, as it clashes with a race day at The Racecourse Newbury.
People wanting to access Park Way will have to come off the Robin Hood roundabout, onto the A4 Western Avenue, then turn left at the roundabout onto Oxford Road. From there, straight over onto Oxford Street and back onto the London Road to enter Park Way.
West Berkshire Council spokesman Keith Ulyatt said: “The roadworks stop short of Park Way, so drivers coming from the west will be able to go down Park Way as usual. Residents in the stretch of road which is to be closed for resurfacing will be able to access their properties under management of those working on the scheme.”
He added that Aldi would have its own system in place for people to access the store.
The London Road closure follows work to replace sunken paving slabs in Bridge Street last week.
The street, which links Bartholomew Street and Northbrook Street, closed last Monday morning, causing lengthy queues onto the A339 and across the town centre, particularly during the morning and evening rush hours.
