Roadworks on A4 Bath Road in Calcot until December brings traffic to a standstill

Roadworks on the A4 Bath Road in Calcot is not scheduled to end until December.

The left lane of the Bath Road has been closed between its junction with Challington Road roundabout and just before the M4.

This closure, near Sainsbury’s, has led to serious delays – especially during rush hour.

The works are due to end on December 4.

The closure is to allow SGN to repair its gas network for local properties.

It is replacing its old metal gas mains and services with new plastic pipe.

SGN’s contractor I&G began work on September 8 for around 18 weeks.

Dorking Way is also closed at its junction with Bath Road.

SGN said traffic exiting the retail park at Sainsbury’s will be able to turn left as usual.

If exiting right, the traffic will be merged into one lane until just before the entrance to the M4.

Many motorists traveling towards the M4 from Old Bath Road have been using Royal Avenue as a diversion.

But there are now delays on that road during school and work rush hours.
