Dog of the Week: The latest dogs looking for their forever homes from Newbury Dogs Trust
Dogs Trust Newbury has a number of dogs at its Hamstead Marshall base who need a new home.
And every Sunday we have been shining a spotlight on one of them to try to help spread the word.
Nationwide, the charity currently has 764 dogs that are looking for a family to join.
You can find out more about adopting a dog by visiting the charity’s website.
Today we have lovely Teddy to introduce you to.
Teddy is a one-year-old Frenchie x Cocker Spaniel, who was handed over to Dogs Trust.
“He is an affectionate boy, who once settled in and feels more comfortable, loves playing with his handlers and toys,” said the charity.
Teddy also likes walking with his doggie friends and putting his nose to work with scent games.
But he doesn't like visiting the vets or close handling and is afraid of the hoover and broom.
Those looking after him at the Newbury centre said Teddy also doesn't like being left and can struggle with not getting attention, so his adopters will need to be happy to continue his training programmes to help him feel more comfortable with the things that upset him.
Teddy has a grade 1 luxating patella which does not currently require treatment but will need to be monitored.
Teddy couldn’t live with cats, but could have dogs in the house.
The trust also said that Teddy can become overexcited around children and has been known to mouth or nip them, so children living within a new household must be aged 16 or over.
“Teddy would benefit from living in a quieter or rural area but this isn't essential,” it added.
