The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of ice for all of West Berkshire, saying that “icy stretches will lead to hazardous conditions” tomorrow morning (Saturday).

It warns of icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, so urges pedestrians to tread carefully and to try not to rush.

The Met Office suggests: “Plan to leave the house at least five minutes earlier than normal. Not needing to rush, reduces your risk of accidents, slips, and falls.

“If you need to make a journey on foot, try to use pavements along main roads which are likely to be less slippery. Similarly, if cycling, try and stick to main roads which are more likely to have been treated.”

It also advises people to check road conditions and public transport timetables before travelling to stay up to date on last-minute changes.

Warnings are also spread across Hampshire and Oxfordshire.

It comes the day after a yellow weather warning for wind was in place across the district.
