Reading Magistrates' Court: Alcohol ban for Newbury drink-driver
A DRINK-driver has been forbidden from consuming alcohol after he was caught behind the wheel after drinking almost three times the legal limit.
In the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on Thursday, January 5, was Ricky Wells.
The 45-year-old, of Redfield Court, Newbury, admitted driving a motor vehicle on Bath Road, Thatcham, on December 9 last year after drinking more than the legal limit.
Tests showed 98mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
The legal limit is 35mcg.
Mr Wells, who was legally represented by Robert Jaques, was ordered to abstain from alcohol until Thursday, May 4.
The ban will be monitored by a body-worn electronic device.
He was also ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid community work and to participate in up to 20 days of rehabilitation activities.
In addition, Mr Wells was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £114.
Finally, he was banned from driving for three years.
