Aldermaston stitchers celebrate Queen's birthday
3.5km bunting stitched together for event
THESE stitchers from Aldermaston have been busy taking part in a bunting challenge.
As a part of the Queen’s official birthday celebrations, the parish of Aldermaston is organising a line of bunting to run from St Mary’s Church to the Wharf, a distance of 3.5 kilometres.
The challenge was to get 14,000 triangles cut from a multitude of fabrics donated from numerous sources, including Sue Ryder and Helping Hands.
The fabric was cut into triangles by villagers and primary school pupils.
At the half-way stage of the project, it took the group two days to join the bunting, which will be hung at 2pm on Saturday, June 11, by teams working from both ends of the village and then celebrating the community coming together at the middle.
At 11.30am the next day, a service of celebration will be followed by a fete and street party for local children, in Wasing Lane.
