All Black's legend opens new facilities at Wickham school

ALL Blacks legend Zinzan Brooke officially opened the multi-use game area to the delight of schoolchildren at Welford and Wickham Primary School recently.

The former New Zealand player cut the ribbon, officially unveiling the school’s Muga facilities and tried his hand at the egg-throwing competition while he was there.

According to the organisers, some 200 people turned out, raising more than £1,000 for the school. A fundraiser for the community and school project, Hayley Brown, said: “Seeing the children from the community and Welford and Wickham Primary School playing and enjoying the Muga makes all the hardwork of raising the £38,000 over the past three years all worth it.”

There were also stalls at the afternoon event, including human table football, a children’s selfie competition, and a ‘guess the popcorn in a jar’ competition.
