All change on the bakery front in Newbury

Hethertons of Berkshire hopes to be the next coffee outlet joining the Continental-style café culture in Newbury, with an application for outdoor seating.
The café, near the Clock House, has applied to West Berkshire Council to put five tables and 20 chairs with canvas barriers outside its store.
It has also signalled that it intends to begin selling alcoholic drinks for consumption inside and outdoors in the near future. A decision on the seating area is expected by August 1.
Meanwhile, the bakery and cake shop chain Greggs has applied to set up a branch in the former Vodafone premises in Northbrook Street, a unit which is currently empty.
A final decision on the application is expected from West Berkshire Council by mid-August.
