All lanes on A34 now open following fatal A34 crash this morning (Mon)





The man, believed to be in his sixties, was driving the articulated lorry before it overturned at around 5am, blocking both lanes of the northbound carriageway between the junctions for Wash Common and Speen.
His next of kin have been informed.
Thames Valley Police is urging anyone who may have information on the incident to get in touch with them.
The southbound carriageway was closed for around two hours to allow for the vehicle to be recovered, but has now been reopened.
The northbound carriageway has also now reopened, amost eight hours after the incident.
Insp Paul Winks, from the joint operations unit for roads policing, said: “At present we are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the A34 northbound around half a mile north of the A343 at Wash Common.
“I appreciate this is a busy Monday morning and I would like to reassure motorists we are trying to get the road open as soon as possible.
“I would like to thank drivers for their patience following disruption caused by this incident.
“If anyone witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle travelling prior to the collision I would ask them to contact police.”

The incident has caused gridlock on surrounding roads, including the A339, with delays of up to an hour being reported.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes where possible.
