All she wanted for Christmas was her toy back...and she got it

Two-year-old Madelaine Heasman became separated from the small stuffed-pup, named Goo-Goo, at the busy switch-on of Thatcham’s Christmas lights, and despite hours of scouring the streets by her parents Sadie and Roy Heasman, Goo-Goo was nowhere to be found.
However, an appeal in last week’s Newbury Weekly News has seen him returned to his rightful owners.
Eight-year-old Amelia McClelland won the small toy on a carnival stall on the night, but her parents, Marie Mildenhall and Wayne McClelland instantly recognised Goo-Goo from the photographs in the newspaper and got in touch with Mrs Heasman immediately.
“We are just really, really grateful,” said Mrs Heasman, who has bought Amelia an early Christmas gift, a Hello Kitty mug and money box gift set, to say thank you for making Madelaine’s Christmas.
“Thatcham Town Council said there are so many stalls giving away toys it may have been put on one of those in error and that’s obviously how it happened.
“It was lovely to get him back, especially so close to Christmas,” she concluded. “It’s really good to know that there are honest people who want to do the right thing.”
