Alleged serious sexual assault at Reading West station
The allegation was passed to the police at 3.19am yesterday morning after a 35-year-old woman reported the assault.
The bridge was cordoned off whilst a crime scene examiner attended the scene.
The victim was taken home to be interviewed by officers specially trained in dealing with sexual offences.
Investigators are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Sergeant Steve Cullinane said: "We’re continuing to make local enquiries to build a picture of what happened, including checking whether CCTV footage is available.
“Thames Valley Police officers are also working closely with the BTP investigating team to help gather information.
“If you have any information that could help our investigation, we want to hear from you.”
