Almost 2,000 households still without power in Newbury area





As of 4pm today, Southern Electric said 1,900 customers in the Newbury area remained without power, mostly in rural locations.
A total 45,000 customers had power restored today and yesterday, according to the company, which has issued the following statement:
“Currently, around 65,000 homes are without power in the SEPD area. Conditions remain extremely challenging with severe flooding in some areas and trees having been brought making travel and access difficult. R
Repairs will continue throughout the evening and every effort will be made to restore power to customers as quickly as possible. Mobile generation is being deployed as circumstances allow.
