Almost 2,000 properties affected by power cut
Southern Electric spokeswoman, Hannah Gleave, confirmed the 12.40pm cut was a result of third party damage to the company’s underground high voltage network.
Engineers have since restored supplies to all excepting 92 customers.
A generator is to be brought on site at 6pm today (Tues) to restore power to the remainder by 8pm at the latest, according to the company.
Those still affected by the cut in the town include residents of Kestral Mead, Fairfield Road, Huntsmoor Road, Falcon Fields and Aldermaston Road.
Tadley Town Council offices in Franklin Avenue lost power at 12.40pm today, the council’s clerk, Nicki Barry, has confirmed, along with Tadley and District Citizen’s Advice Bureau, who share the same office building.
The neighbouring Ambrose Allen building was also affected, where a party of elderly people attending the Loddon Valley Day Care Centre, which provides respite care for the elderly, had fortunately just finished eating their lunch, when the cut struck.
This latest north Hampshire power cut comes close on the heels of a series of five power cuts affecting the Woolton Hill, Highclere, Hollington, Ball Hill and Penwood areas, over the last three weeks, which Woolton Hill villagers have demanded action over.
