Amnesty offered to "mean spirited" Christmas wreath thief

Clive Illenden, who moved to the village seven years ago, was on a day out with his family, but returned home on Sunday to find that the wreath had vanished.
Mr Illenden, who lives in Hop Gardens, has not contacted police, but has urged whoever is responsible to return it.
He said: “It’s just mean spirited and grinch-like. Christmas is meant to be a time of happiness and giving. It might have been done as a joke, but it’s left my daughter upset and my wife annoyed.
“My daughter has asked why someone would want to take a Christmas wreath, what am I meant to say back to that?
“It’s not the crown jewels and doesn’t really have much value but it is very sentimental as it was one of the first things we brought when we moved to Kintbury from London and we’ve had it up every year.”
Mr Illenden has now taken to social media to appeal for the return of the wreath, putting out a post on the Kintbury Village Facebook and Twitter pages.
One Twitter angered by the theft even came up with his own poem, which read: “There once was a family, around 4, who returned to their home and then saw, that some chavvy thief, had half-inched their wreath #kintbury.
Several village residents have been discussing the theft on Twitter under #thestolenkintburywreath.
Mr Illinden has asked for anyone with information to post on the village’s Facebook page.
