Operation Sceptre: Knives can be left safely at Newbury Police Station during week-long national knife amnesty




Knives can be safely and anonymously left at Newbury Police Station during a week-long national amnesty.

Thames Valley Police is joining forces across the country this week to take part in Operation Sceptre, a week of action designed to challenge and reduce the threat of knife crime across the area.

The aim of the operation is to “remove dangerous weapons from the streets, reduce knife crime and raise awareness of the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife”.

The knife amnesty runs until Sunday (November 21) and people are being urged to dispose of any type of knife or bladed article - safely and anonymously.

Permanent knife amnesty bins are located in a number of police stations across the Thames Valley, including at Newbury, Loddon Valley and Reading.

Additional knife amnesty bins can also be found at Waitrose Car Park, Caversham, Cintra Park, Coley Park Community Centre, Kensington Park, Orts Road, Tilehurst Triangle.
