Police award communities thousands in money taken from criminals

Thames Valley Police has awarded £199,548 to voluntary and community organisations — with money taken from criminals.
More than 180 organisations applied for over £2 million in funding, with 51 receiving between £300 to £10,000.
The scheme — headed by police and crime commissioner, Matthew Barber, and chief constable, Jason Hogg — aims to support the community by providing additional CCTV, support for domestic abuse victims and deterring young people from crime.
“I’m delighted to award this funding to organisations providing valuable services,” said Mr Barber.
“I have visited a number of previously funded organisations doing fantastic work to support their local community.”
Successful recipients are invited to attend a presentation in Milton Keynes on November 2.
