Annual Ploughing Match expected to break new ground
The annual NADAS Ploughing Match takes place this Saturday at Rookery Farm, Curridge, from 9am.
Ploughmen from across the UK, as well as young home-grown local talent, will be hoping to win top spot in each of their classes and qualify for the National Ploughing Championships.
Farming, both old and new, is brought to life in unique working demonstrations.
The magnificent heavy horses, decorated with ornate brass and leather harness, will work alongside many different styles of vintage tractor and plough.
In contrast, top machinery firms will be demonstrating their latest, most up-to-date and powerful multi-furrow ploughing units used by today's farmers.
As well as the Ploughing Match, the hotly contested domestic competitions will take place with an array of homemade cakes and hedgerow liqueurs.
Anyone can enter and all exhibits are auctioned off at the end of the day and proceeds go to the Society's chosen charity for the year.
Access is advised via the B4009 near Fisher's Lane.
