Annual race sees Olympic rowers paddle through Newbury

The 125-mile race will take competitors from Devizes in Wiltshire to Westminster in the heart of London.
The route follows the Kennet and Avon Canal through Newbury, joining the River Thames at Reading down to Teddington, where the river becomes tidal for the final stretch down to Westminster.
This year’s race will include four former Olympians - Sir Steve Redgrave, Ben Hunt-Davis, Sarah Winckles and Kate MacKenzie.
They are all competing in the Senior Doubles, non-stop event.
The first set of non-stop competitors, who aim to complete the course in four days, will set off from Devizes to Newbury today (Good Friday), arriving at Northcroft Leisure Centre from about 11am.
Then from about 8am tomorrow (Saturday), Newbury town mayor, Jeff Beck, will start the junior double and singles races from Northcroft Field, behind the leisure centre.
From here the race will head through Reading, Marlow, Windsor, Teddington and final Westminster.
