Burghfest is back with a blast
Hundreds of villagers turned out to mark the return of their annual beer festival Burghfest at the weekend.
The Recreation Ground at Burghfield Common was packed on Friday and Saturday as villagers flocked to enjoy a funfair, food stands, live music and a range of Berkshire brews.
More than 50 cask ales and craft beers from 20 local brewers were on tap, plus 12 ciders and a gin bar.
These included Tutts Clump Cider, Indigenous Brewing, Elusive Brewing and Silchester newcomer Mysterious Brewing — which was a sell-out.
The event also showcased its signature brew, Santa’s Peel-y Good Brew, brewed in collaboration with Reading Amateur Brewers and Elusive Brewing.
A strong atmosphere seized the day as a sea of smiling faces enjoyed the welcome celebration, organised by the Burghfield Santas in aid of Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
Friday’s event was open from 3pm until 11pm and Saturday’s from 12pm until 10pm.
A Meet The Brewer event returned for its second instalment on Saturday from 12-2pm, hosted by Tom Canning, welcoming Ascot Brewing Co, Double-Barrelled Brewery, Elusive Brewing and Mysterious Brewing.
The exact total attendance and money raised is currently being calculated. Otherwise, the organisers can now enjoy a well-earned rest.
