Arkell’s listing for the pub online reads: “The Cross Keys is named after the sign of Saint Peter, the gatekeeper of Heaven, but it could be said there is nothing saintly about this stunning bar & eatery—actually the complete opposite.

“Since being taken over by James Callery and team, this one-time sports bar is now home to a quirky ‘steam punk’ inspired bar area with open fires, amazing decor and 40 seats for enjoying the amazing array of Cuban-inspired dishes & drinks on offer.

“The full-length open street food kitchen completes what is now one of most popular destinations in Newbury for eating out and atmosphere.”

Other town centre pubs currently on the lookout for new management or to sell include the Catherine Wheel in Market Place, the King Charles Tavern in Cheap Street and The Newbury on Bartholomew Street.
