McCoy, who lives in Lambourn with wife Chanelle and their two children and who recently passed the unprecedented mark of 4,000 jump racing winners, famously won the accolade in 2010.
Among the other contenders are the current favourite, Wimbledon and Olympic tennis champion Andy Murray; the most decorated sailor in Olympic history, Sir Bill Ainslee; Paralympic gold medallist Hannah Cockcroft; and athlete Mo Farah, who became only the second man in history to complete an Olympic and world 'double-double' in the distance running events.
McCoy was appointed an OBE in 2011.
