Aparthotel for Newbury given green light

The plan to turn Elizabeth House, West Street, into a 24-suite, four-storey complex of serviced apartments was submitted by Woolf Bond Planning on behalf of Reading-based House Of Fisher.
The new hotel will contain a mix of approximately one third one-bedroom suites and two thirds studio. On the ground floor there will be staff offices, storage space, staff facilities, foyer, and a private gymnasium for use by guests only.
There will also be 14 parking spaces and storage for 12 bicycles.
Newbury Town Council supported the application.
A statement by Woolf Bond Planning, said: “The proposal will satisfy the proven demand in the area for specialist aparthotel accommodation, by a known and respected brand in the Thames Valley area, and in a most suitable and sustainable location.”
