Thames Valley Police appeal after man absconds from secure unit in Thatcham




Police are appealing for the public’s help in tracing a man who has absconded from a secure unit in Thatcham.

Raymond Jones, aged 62, is white, around 5ft 4ins tall, skinny and bald.

He is believed to have been wearing a black/dark long jacket, a dark coloured cap, blue jeans, brown shoes, and police believe he was carrying a black rucksack and what looks like a cool bag.

He absconded from the unit on Sunday, October 24.

The public are urged not to approach him, but to call 999 immediately if he is sighted.

Mr Jones has been known to frequent Thatcham and Newbury town centres, however he may have travelled to Hampshire or Dorset.

He has connections to Hampshire, namely Wickham, Lindford as well Kingston, Gosport and Fareham, but also to Dorset.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Sally Russell said: “We are appealing for the public to please contact us immediately if they spot someone matching Raymond Jones’ description.

“We would advise members of the public not to approach him, however if they do see him we would ask them to call 999 immediately.”
