Appeal dismissed to demolish former water pumping station reservoir and new housing development in Tutts Clump
The secretary of state has refused an appeal for a new housing development.
The application sought permission to demolish a former water pumping station reservoir and associated buildings at Tutts Clump and to build a new detached five-bed residence and garage.
But the appeal was dismissed on Monday (August 21).
West Berkshire Council refused the original application in June 2022, stating it conflicted with its Core Strategy and Housing Site Allocations DPD.
It also said its design and character was not “sufficiently high in quality” and would “harm the character of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”.
While having no objections to the proposal, Bradfield Parish Council commented it would prefer conservation roof lights be used for the skylights to limit internal and external light pollution.
