Appeal for witnesses after B4000 crash




Woman passenger in critical condition after being airlifted to hospital following two car crash

THAMES Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after the serious collision on the B4000 yesterday (Tuesday).

At about 12.45pm, a silver Peugeot 206 and a silver Bentley collided at the junction of Boxford and Hoe Benham on the B4000.

Two fire crews from Newbury and a crew from Hungerford used cutting equipment to release the male driver and a woman passenger of the Peugeot 206, who were then airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

The driver, a 25- year-old man from Newbury, is in a serious but stable condition. The front seat passenger, a 21-year-old woman from Newbury, is in a critical condition.

The driver of the Bentley, a 71-year-old man from Hungerford, was treated by paramedics at the scene. His wife, aged 51, was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon where she was treated for minor injuries.

Sergeant Peter Jell from the Roads Policing Department would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the collision or either vehicle prior to the incident.
