Refused Chapel Street housing proposal appealed in Thatcham

A planning saga continues in the historic centre of Thatcham.

Aldermaston-based applicant Young Estates and Land Ltd has appealed against West Berkshire Council’s refusal of its proposal in November to build six three-bedroom houses, with accompanying gardens and parking spaces, on land to the rear of 12-16 Chapel Street.

And it is not the first time applications have come under dispute here.

Previous concerns raised by planning consultations included loss of privacy to the care home west and other neighbouring properties, dangerous site access and a lack of affordable housing.

The appeal started on July 17 and will be determined on the basis of written representations.

All representations on the application will be considered by the inspector when determining the appeal.

Forward any comments to https://acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk or by contacting Jonathan Alden, The Planning Inspectorate, 3B Eagle Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Bristol, BS1 6PN.

All representations must be received by August 21 and quote the inspectorate’s appeal reference: APP/W0340/W/24/3345389.

Any submitted after will not be considered and returned.
