Apple Day to return to Newbury on Saturday

The event was introduced to Newbury last year and proved so popular that organisers have decided to come back for a second bite.
Anyone with an abundance of apples is being encouraged to do something useful with them - by coming along to the Market Place from 9am to 4pm and have them turned into juice.
There will be the chance to celebrate the fruit in a whole host of ways with apple cakes and goodies available to buy, an opportunity to have a chance to taste unusual heritage varieties and to find out more about Newbury’s very own apple varieties.
Apple-based competitions and other events are also being planned to entertain the younger guests on the day.
One of the event’s organisers, Ceinwen Lally, said: “It’s a great chance for locals to taste the freshest apple juice possible and find out about the community orchards that have been planted in Newbury.”
