Applications open for Community Champions for chance to gain free access to local leisure facilities

Unsung community champions have two weeks left to apply for a chance to gain free access to local leisure centres.

Everyone Active, which runs Northcroft Leisure Centre and Lido and six other leisure centres in partnership with West Berkshire Council, launched its Community Champions scheme on May 1 to support projects tackling local issues and changing lives.

And it is urging anyone involved in mentoring, promoting health and wellbeing, supporting inclusivity or leading environmental or cultural projects to apply now.

Everyone Active’s contract manager Richard May said: “We are hugely excited to launch the Community Champions scheme, which we hope will make a real difference in West Berkshire.

“We want to highlight the work of everyday heroes who are changing people’s lives and inspiring others to make a positive impact in their communities.

“We encourage local people, community projects and charitable initiatives to get their applications in, so we can support the fantastic work that you do.”

Anyone interested must apply at www.ea-champions.com by 11.59pm on Thursday, June 12.

Successful applicants will secure use of their local leisure centres to help them carry out their projects.

Those selected for the scheme could also end up being shortlisted for the Champions Awards later this year.

But that’s not all. Everyone Active also launched its all-new Colleague Champions scheme on May 1 to recognise and reward its employees who consistently go above and beyond in their roles.

Customers must nominate colleagues for the award at www.ea-champions.com by 11.59pm on Thursday, June 12.
