Are they birds or some leftover Christmas decorations?

The bizarre sight was spotted by Newbury Weekly News photographer, Phil Cannings, to the bemusement of Newbury Town Council employees who were unaware of the strange display.
Services officer for the council, Caroline Edmunds, said: “It looked like a scene from Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds.
“Perhaps the skateboarders had new trainers for Christmas and as a homage to their old ones displayed them on the tree as Christmas decorations.”
She wasn’t far wrong, as one member of the skate park user group, who asked not to be named, explained the bizarre scenario.
“It's used by some of the skate park users as a kind of shoe graveyard once a pair of shoes have been worn out,” he said. “Shoes have been going in there since the spring but it is only now in the winter that you can really see them with the leaves off the trees.”
