Are you the next Young Musician of the Year?
£2,000 prize and the chance to play with Newbury's professional orchestra
ARE you, or do you know, the next Newbury Young Musician of the Year?
The Newbury Young Musician of the Year competition is well established amongst young talented musicians aged 15 to 19, living within 30 miles of Newbury Town Hall.
A Southern Sinfonia partnership project, funded by Greenham Common Trust, encourages string, wind, brass, piano or percussion players of Grade 8 standard in the area to enter.
The first prize is a cheque for £2,000 plus the chance to play on stage with Southern Sinfonia under its internation-ally-known music director David Hill.
Entrants will be judged by a group of professionals, initially by submitting a simple disc/MP3 file by Friday, February 24. Heats will be held in April and the final on Sunday, June 24, at the Corn Exchange, Newbury.
If you know of anyone who would like to have a go, ask them to ring Anita in the Southern Sinfonia office on (01635) 580035 or email anita@southernsinfonia.co.uk for more details.
It is possible to download the rules and an application form from their website www.southernsinfonia.co.uk
