Armed Forces Day marches into the Racecourse this weekend

A wide variety of military-themed entertainment will be on offer throughout the day including a parachute display and performances by the 7 Rifles Waterloo Band, and the event will culminate in a seven-card race at the renowned race track.
The Racecourse Newbury’s chief executive Julian Thick said: “Armed Forces Day is always a fantastic finale to the flat season and with so much going on, on the day, its set to be the most exciting one yet.
“We look forward to welcoming and celebrating the efforts of the Armed Forces personnel and supporting the work of the British Legion.”
Military personnel from across the country will also be there with displays and challenges for all to take part in including the Powerbag Challenge and entrants can test their mettle on the formidable Army inflatable assault course.
To kick start the annual Poppy Appeal The Army Freefall Display Team “The Tigers” will be parachuting onto the Racecourse in what promises to be a spectacular display to present a poppy wreath to the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire before the racing gets underway for the afternoon.
