Arrest after tip-off from member of the public




The man was arrested after he was spotted running from a home in Greenham carrying bags

POLICE arrested a man on suspicion of burglary on Wednesday (13), following a tip-off from a member of the public.

A report was received at 4.30pm from a member of the public who saw three men running from a house in Lingfield Road, Greenham, carrying bags.

Local police were able to attend to conduct a search of the area and, as a result, arrested a 19 year-old man from Gainsborough Road, Southcote, Reading.

He is currently in custody at Newbury Police Station.

Dc Clare Larksworthy, of Newbury Priority Crime Team, said: “This is a great example of how information from the community really helps police.

“We would like to express thanks to the member of the public who called this in.

“If anyone has any further information on this incident, I would urge them to contact me.

“All three men were reported to be wearing jeans and dark hooded tops.

“I would like to remind members of the public that if they see or hear anything suspicious they should always report it to police.”
