Arrest in connection with Upper Bucklebury suspected arson





According to Thames Valley Police, a 25-year-old man from Padworth was arrested on Monday (June 24), on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, and in connection with a vehicle fire in Mortons Lane, Upper Bucklebury, at about 3.35am on Thursday June 20 and which spread to a shed.
The man has been released on police bail until July 30.
According to Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman, Nicole Targett, one pump from Newbury, another from Tilehurst, plus the incident command unit from Tilehurst, were called at 3.23am to Mortons Lane, where two sheds were well alight.
The fire had spread further to the roof of an adjacent bungalow, according to the fire service and four firefighters used breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze, while cutting away damaged material. A thermal imaging camera and ventilation fan were also used.
No-one was hurt.
The sheds were completely destroyed in the blaze and the roof of the bungalow was ten per cent damaged.
Firefighters left the scene at 4.22am.
