Tadley and Baughurst Art Club’s spring exhibition showcases 200 works by local artists
Nearly 200 visitors attended Tadley and Baughurst Art Club’s spring exhibition earlier this month.
On May 11 and 12, around 200 paintings were on display in the Ambrose Allen Centre that were created by artists of all ages – from art club members to local students and other creative North Hampshire residents.
Visitors were requested to vote for the best work in show, as well as in various categories, including small paintings on the theme of the 200th anniversary of the RNLI and sculptures made from scrap metal.
Toni Peace was awarded best in show for her painting Ballet Dancer and the winner for the small paintings was Jenny Kennish, with Hannah Monger coming second.
The winner of the sculpture category was again Jenny Kennish with Owl and the Pussycat, and Sue Phillips was runner up with her Tonic the tin-can-gin steam engine.
Local artist and teacher Barbara Feuillade-Cole also gave a demonstration on how to use pastels and watercolours at the exhibition.
Club chairman Jenny Kennish said “We are so pleased that so many people clearly enjoyed coming along to our exhibition and seeing our work. It was a lovely to see them all.
“There were some lovely comments on the variety and high standard of work on display, which were much appreciated.
“This year’s exhibition had a collection for the RNLI, as well as a raffle for one of Barbara’s paintings and we were very pleased that these raised over £140 for such a good cause.”
