Art @ The Newbury

Currently showing their work at The Newbury gastropub in Bartholomew Street are local artists Jo Derczynska, Valentina Tikhonova, Sharon Perris, Betony Tait, Simon Sonsino, Diccon Dadey and Gail Davis. A Sunday evening event to launch the exhibition was topped off with music by jazz guitarist Gavin Wilkinson.
Landlord Pete Lumber, who hung the artworks, said that the evening went very well, with all the artists, friends, family and pub regulars attending. “Gavin Wilkinson played for a couple of hours – that went down well. The feedback we’ve had has been very good and I’ve been told by a couple of the artists that my layout is very good – I very much enjoyed doing it and am proud they thought I did a good job.
“One of the works sold on the day before the opening, which is good. All the work we have up now will be up for three months and we already have three artists lined up for the next show on March 3. We will always be looking for new artists to show their art as this will be an ongoing event to support local artists of all types.

“We feel this is a great platform for established and new artists as this gives them a chance to show and sell to the public. If an artist wants to get in touch, they can drop us an email with examples of some of their work. We can’t promise to show it but will consider it.”
