Newbury painter to make her mark on the international art scene
Local Open Studios artist Melissa Laurence from LissArt Studio is about to make her mark on the international art scene as her striking oil painting Tea from the Garden, earns a coveted spot in Sophie Tea's Gallery in London's trendy Soho district.
Until recently she was a local infant teacher, but this school year took the leap to take her art full-time.
Out of an impressive pool of 1,500 applicants, her work was not only selected, but also shortlisted to the top 50.
The competition then opened up to public voting, where an astounding 20,000 votes were cast. Thanks to overwhelming support from the community and art lovers alike, Melissa secured her spot in the Top 20, granting her the incredible opportunity to exhibit her masterpiece in Sophie Tea's gallery.
