The Olibob Arts Foundation set up in memory of Tadley actor receives donation from theatre group Tardis Productions
A Tadley-based performance arts charity set up in memory of a local actor has received a donation from a Midlands theatre group he was part of.
Oli Williams died in a car accident on the A34 at East Ilsley during Storm Alex in 2020, on his way to his family home in Tadley from his flat in Stratford-upon-Avon.
The Olibob Arts Foundation was set up by his family as a legacy to his memory and it provides grants to help young people across the UK develop key life skills through the performing arts.
A recent donation of £581.01 was made to the foundation on behalf of Tardis Productions by its musical director Kris Chase-Byrne and three of its actors who took part in the production company’s recent amateur production of the musical comedy Avenue Q.
Mr Williams was rehearsing for the show when he died and when the production team decided to run the show last year in Leamington Spa, they dedicated it to his memory. The money was raised from audience donations.
Through its work, The Olibob Arts Foundation has funded youth drama projects in two schools most impacted by the Grenfell Tower fire, and in a secondary school in Port Talbot affected by factory closures.
