Aspiring golfers offered training opportunity

New scheme at Kingsclere golf club aims to encourage young people to take up the sport ahead of 2016 Brazil Olympics

A KINGSCLERE golf club is offering complimentary membership and professional golf training to aspiring junior golfers.

The Tees for Teens scheme at Sandford Springs golf club invites young would-be golfers, between the ages of eight and 18 to enjoy complimentary membership and professional golf training at the golf course, starting this month.

The offer includes group lessons held by professional trainers.

“New junior members will receive the encouragement and training necessary to enable them to make the most of their time on the course, with the possibility that some of them may go on to become core members of the junior teams,” said spokesperson for the club, Lynsey Haddow.

The Sandford Springs course is owned by Leaderboard Golf.

The group hopes the initiative will encourage a greater number of British youngsters to take up the game in advance of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, when golf will become an Olympic sport (for the first time since 1904).
