Attempted robbery near Newbury park
The 29-year-old was walking through an alleyway out of City recreation ground towards Buckingham Road when he was hit in the shoulder and knocked to the floor.
As he began to stand up he heard a man demanding that he hand over his iPod but the man punched the would-be robber in self-defence and ran off.
Nothing was stolen.
The assailant is described as white, aged in his late twenties or early thirties and stocky with short dark hair.
He was wearing a dark coloured Puffa style jacket and dark tracksuit type trousers.
The attempted robbery took place at around 7.45pm yesterday (Sunday, February 15).
