Auditions for Hungerford town show
Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman, it is the story of 15-year-old Swallow, who finds a mysterious man in her barn. Convinced he is Jesus, Swallow and the children of the town decide to protect the man from the townspeople, who are determined to find the fugitive hiding in their midst.
The rock musical, set in 1950s Louisiana, has roles for children, teenagers and adults.
One of the directors for Whistle Down the Wind, Roushka Westall, said: "The show is Andrew Lloyd Webber at his best. It has something to appeal to all ages. The story is one of innocence, faith and loss which will make you want to cry one moment and rock out the next."
For the first time this year, there will be two sets of performances of the Hungerford Town Show.
The first will take place on the December 5 and 6 at the Arlington Arts Centre in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Hungerford, and will raise funds for the Mary Hare School.
The second performance will remain at its usual time during half term from February 18 to 21 next year at John O’Gaunt School.
The theatre group is very welcoming and is keen to encourage new members both on and off the stage.
Not only do they provide opportunities for actors, singers and dancers but also those interested in other areas of the theatre, including, but not limited to, lighting, costumes and set painting.
The open auditions will take place on Sunday, August 31 between 2pm and 6pm at Herongate Leisure in Hungerford.
Everyone over the age of eight years is welcome to audition.
Those interested should visit the company's website for more details on how to book an audition slot. Those auditioning will need to be available for chorus rehearsals on Monday nights and principal rehearsals on Fridays.
