Author visits Kennet School in Thatcham to talk about debut book
An author has shared her new book with pupils at a Thatcham school.
On Monday (July 15), author, Sarah Marriott, visited Kennet School’s Library to show her recently published debut book, The Wings of the Spectrum.
Pupils had the chance to hear a sample of the tale, which follows the adventures of a girl named Freya.
Initially reluctant to spend the summer at her grandmother's house in the middle of nowhere, Freya's story takes an unexpected turn when she meets Rhianne, making her summer anything but dull.
Miss Marriott's presentation provided deeper insights into her writing process and the inspiration behind her new book.
She also shared her journey as a writer and the challenges she faced.
The session concluded with a Q&A, where pupils asked questions and advice for aspiring writers.
“Meeting authors like Sarah has a profound impact on our pupils,” said school librarian, Clare Swanson.
“It not only enhances their interest in reading but also inspires them to explore their own creativity and storytelling.
“These encounters bring books to life and complement our classroom lessons, enhancing pupils’ engagement and inspiring a deeper love for reading.”
