Author Andy Seed inspires pupils at Francis Baily Primary School in Thatcham
Pupils at a primary school in Thatcham were left inspired after meeting children’s author Andy Seed.
Mr Seed met Francis Baily pupils from Year 1 – Year 4 to talk all things non-fiction.
The writer has over 50 informative books to his name about animals, wildlife and history.
Mr Seed, who won a Blue Peter Book Award in 2015, taught the children about the roles of authors and illustrators, as well as the perks that come with the role.
He explained the process of what goes into a book all the way through to it being made and arriving at your doorstep.
He finished his visit off with a workshop for creating poems and a book signing.
Mr Seed said: “I feel very privileged to be a writer who works directly with children through school author visits.
“It’s a wonderful and important job, not least because you are inspiring future generations. “When children become keen readers it often transforms their life.
“And research shows that young people who read for enjoyment are typically happier, healthier and more successful than their peers.
“At Francis Baily Primary I was met with a delightful wave of enthusiasm for my books and for the author visit as a whole, so I am very grateful for being invited.
