Award-winning author and columnist to give Newbury talk

An award-winning national newspaper columnist and author is visiting Newbury to talk about her new book next month – and to give a critical look at the current state of politics, just three days before the May 7 General Election.

Zoe Williams is a regular columnist for the Guardian and New Statesman, and has also written for the Sunday Telegraph and Evening Standard, and will be talking about her new book and politics generally at the Catherine Wheel in Cheap Street on Monday, May 4 from 7.30pm.

The author of Bring It On Baby: Why We Deserve Better Politics was described by Conservative MEP Daniel Hannan as having “the mark of a great columnist – she compels interest in the unlikeliest subjects”.

He added: “She has a beautiful turn of phrase, and I can’t remember a single column I haven’t enjoyed.”

The former 2010 Columnist of the Year is also the author of the 2012 book of advice for mothers-to-be What Not to Expect When You’re Expecting.

The evening has been organised by the West Berkshire Green Party and all are welcome to attend.
