Award-winning author Sebastian Faulks opens Boxford Village Hall
Mr Faulks, who is best known for his historic novels including ‘Charlotte Gray’ and the James Bond sequel ‘Devil May Care’, was born in Donnington in 1953 and for many years lived in Boxford before being educated at Elstree School in Woolhampton.
After cutting the ribbon to declare the hall officially open, Mr Faulks spoke to the Newbury Weekly News about his return.
“It is wonderful to come back,” he said.
“My parents lived for 30 years very happily in Boxford. It is such a vibrant, happy place with a fantastic community spirit and I’m very proud to say I lived here."
Project leader for the new village hall, Mike Appleton, said: “We have now got a great building for the 21st century and we are very much hoping that people can come along and use the facilities. We are all very proud of it and delighted Sebastian could come along,”
