Awards evening at St Bart's School

The annual Key Stage 5 Awards evening celebrates the achieve-ments of Year 13 pupils who excelled at their A-level examinations, as well as presenting some of the former students with special awards.
They received their prizes from chief executive of the Institute of Physics, Professor Paul Hardaker.
Head of Sixth Form Adam Robbins said: “We always enjoy the opportunity to congratulate our former students on their achievements.
“We were very pleased to welcome Professor Hardaker to St Bart’s.
“He is a mathematician by background and his career has encompassed a wide range of roles, including 14 years in the Met Office where, for a time, he was chief adviser to the Government.
“It was a great pleasure to recognise students’ hard work and commitment to school life.”
The awards evening comes after a string of good results over the summer, with more than 25 per cent of all grades at A* and A and more than half the year achieved a grade B or above.
These results meant that St Bart’s was in the top 25 per cent nationally for A2 exams.
Ninety book prizes and trophies were presented on the night and the school said that most of the successful students have now chosen to go on to higher education.
